Yassar Ali is the Director and Clinical Lead at Inayat Health and Wellbeing. He qualified as a Professional Counsellor in 2001 and, over the course of 20+ years, has worked extensively in the mental health field across private, public, charity, faith, and voluntary sectors. This diverse experience has provided him with a deep understanding of working with varied populations, sectors, and presenting issues.
Yassar’s journey into counselling began in 1998 when he developed a passion for supporting individuals through emotional and mental health challenges. He qualified as an Integrative Therapist in 2000 at St John’s University in York. He later completed a Master’s in Counselling Studies at the University of Manchester, followed by progression into the Professional Doctoral Program in Counselling Studies.
Throughout his career, Yassar has supported clients facing a range of emotional and mental health challenges, working with individuals, couples, and families. His integrative approach is holistic and multidimensional, addressing the biological, psychological, emotional, behavioural, social, physiological, religious, and spiritual influences that shape human experiences. He has extensive experience working with couples navigating marital challenges, including communication struggles, infidelity, sexual addictions, and compulsive sexual behaviour disorders.
A significant focus of Yassar’s clinical research and practice centres on the Muslim community in the UK. He has contributed to several research projects aimed at understanding and addressing the unique mental health needs of this population. In addition to his counselling qualifications, Yassar is a trained family mediator, domestic abuse perpetrator programme facilitator, parenting specialist, and child protection consultant.
With this broad expertise and a commitment to improving lives, Yassar established Inayat Health & Wellbeing in 2016, aiming to help individuals, families, and communities lead more fulfilling and harmonious lives.
